The DHO are very much looking forward to welcoming you back to Wengen next year to participate in the 14th AICC. Plans are well underway but due to the current circumstances we will be sharing more information regarding hotels and transport links later in the year. Should you wish to book accommodation now you can go to our hotels page for a list of hotels and the various suppliers of self-catering accommodation.

When looking to book hotels we suggest visiting www.switzerlandtravelcentre.com as the booking channel for everyone. Not only are their prices exactly the same as you would get directly, but it would also mean that when you start looking to book your rooms, all the hotels will be listed in one place so you can just then take your pick.

Pre-Race Training with CDC for the AICC 2021 8th/11th march


Chemmy and Dougie CDC 2021

Chemmy and Dougie (CDC) will be training DHO racers for AICC March 2021 on Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday March 8.9.10/11 in Wengen . Guided by Olympian Chemmy Alcott and World Cup athlete Dougie Crawford, CDC provide world class coaching. They will be able to demo all the skills asked of you, both in and out of gates. AICC 2021 11th/14th march

Plans are already well underway for next year. The dates and events are Thursday 11th march team captain’s meeting, 12th march giant slalom (2 runs) and 13th march Super G on our famous Lauberhorn piste.

Sponsors!

The event has a few regular very generous sponsors, but we do need more. If there are any members who would like to donate some funds towards this event/ or indeed a product for the goodie bag, that relates to Wengen and/or skiing we would be super grateful. You will of course be mentioned and very much appreciated

During the event we have banners relating to any sponsors and these banners need to be erected at the start and finish of the races, therefore I am looking for strong volunteers to take on this task…. This is just for male DHO members, you should feel privileged!!!

Racers!

We are always looking for racers, and as we are the host club we are allowed up to 12 teams! However, we must leave room for the other clubs! If any of you are interested in joining a team, please get in touch with me as soon as possible as places might be limited!

Hosting and volunteers

We are looking for DHO members, should you be in resort, to volunteer a little of their time during the week of 7th/14th march here is a list of a few jobs that need to be manned

Team captain’s meeting Thursday 11th march.

Meet and greet, handing drinks and canapes round handing out goodie bags to all competitors.

Friday 12th and Saturday 13th march

Gate keepers!!! We need at least 10 each day. It’s easy and your head gatekeeper pays lots of visits with hot chocolate, coffee, snacks and schnapps! You get to disqualify the opposition! Just kidding!

Friday 12th and Saturday 13th march

2 personnel controlling the finish area and making sure it is empty for the next racers. Keeping the crowds away from the scoreboard

Saturday 13th march

2 persons collecting bibs. Saturday 13th team parallel 3pm at the Figeller (snow permitting, otherwise on the bumps) if on the Figeller we will use the bar and if on the bumps we will use the Wasch bar as the “snow bar.”

  •  Keeping the finish area free of racers and spectators
  •  Working the flags at the bottom
  •  2 personnel at the top of the race , one on each side letting the racers go!
  •  1 person at the top telling them when they can set off and calling the teams into line

Prizegiving dinner

We are looking for volunteers on the evening , probably some of the racers, to help out with drinks at the prize giving and helping guests to the tables, where it will probably be free seating, but there will be a large board with the tables numbered and with the name of the Clubs on each table. We want Clubs to sit with their own friends and not strangers! We will need a volunteer who can draw? to make this large list of tables and names of Club members.

One Overall Job

We are looking for someone to record the proceedings of each day, this could be 3 different people, one for the Team Captain’s Meeting and Apero, one for Friday with the GS and Alpine Dinner and one for Saturday for the SG, Parallel and Prize giving, in order that we can report it correctly for the Journal in the autumn
