Skiers often have a love for the sea and the Downhill Only Club’s Invitational Regatta aims to bring together crews from alpine ski clubs for a fun day of friendly competition on the water at Seaview on the Isle of Wight.
Seaview is a beautiful sailing village where generations of families have paddled in rock pools, admired the outlook across the entrance to the Solent and sailed Mermaids, which provide safe and fair racing to all standards of sailor: www.seaviewmermaids.co.uk .
The DHO has held successful regattas for its members since 2017 and this year it is inviting other alpine ski clubs to take part and enter one or more boats with three or four crew in each Mermaid. The regatta will have four to six races, depending on the conditions. Lunch will be in the historic clubhouse and supporters are welcome to join in the fun. Participants can travel to Seaview by rib from Portsmouth on Sunday morning or spend the night before in Seaview and join a lively dinner in the Northbank Hotel.
