And where to find them in the resort
Here is the Downhill Only ski clubs essential guide, to Wengen Hotels, for 2019 and 2020. We list every Wengen Hotel on our page. We also tell you their official rating as listed by the tourist office and show you where they are within the village. Each hotel in the village has it’s own distinct style and we are sure you will enjoy your stay in whichever you choose.
Staying in Wengen
Most visitors to Wengen stay in one of its many hotels.
Wengen hotels are mainly three or four star ratings but even the unrated ones are excellent. You will never find a dirty or untidy hotel in the village of Wengen.
During the season events take place at many of the hotels please see our events calendar.
The Silberhorn, Victoria Lauberhorn, Sunstar, Bernerhof and Schonegg are all in the center of the village. Whilst the Caprice, Regina, Falken, Park and Berghaus are only a couple of minutes further away. No hotel however, is more than 10 minutes gentle walk from the heart of the village.
Don’t worry if you don’t speak German, English is understood in all the hotels. It’s also a second language across the whole of Switzerland.
Eating in or out.
If you are staying in Wengen for more than a day or two, most hotels will offer a half board option. At Wengen Hotels half board means dinner bed and breakfast.
Breakfast will often be a buffet, with fresh breads and croissants. Served with jams, cold meats and cheeses. It will also likely include cereal, muesli and yogurts. Some hotels may include hot dishes running from boiled eggs to scrambled or fried eggs and bacon. To drink there will be tea or coffee, cold milk and often fruit juice. Some hotels may serve hot chocolate or other drinks.
Dinner when served as a half board meal will be a set menu that changes daily. Depending on the hotel this may be a 3, 4 or 5 course meal and the main course might be from a buffet selection. The evenings set menu will be on display each morning.
Most hotels will be happy to provide an alternative dish if there is something on the menu you can’t eat. If you have any particular dietary requirements please let them know when you book.
Which Hotels have the best views.
Wengen hotels all have amazing views, with mountains all around this is inevitable. That said when people ask for good views they mean of the iconic Jungfrau. Go for a south facing room, to get a view of the Jungfrau.
Almost as good though, are views across the Lauterbrunnen valley. Watching the sun set behind these peaks to the west in the evening is very atmospheric. Being to the west these peaks also catch the first rays of sun in the morning, lighting up the whole valley.
