Hoorah! AICC finally happened on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th March this year! It has been a long, two years, waiting for the event to happen. Regularly On/Off and then finally the green light! We had wonderful weather and everyone seemed to have a marvellous time. There were importantly no bad accidents. Always a major relief when hosting an event such as this with approximately 230 participants being they racers or helpers! There will, of course, be a detailed article in the Journal.
I would, in the meantime, like to mention a few amazing people – be they DHO members or friends from the village – who helped us make it all happen!
First, a thank you to all those DHO racers who skied their hearts out and we had some successes. Being good hosts though we obviously had to let the other clubs win their categories!!
A massive thank you to Sarah Hoyle and Susie Davies who, as always, stepped in helping with negotiations for the 3 different dinner venues as well as stuffing goodie bags for all the racers along with assistance from Cynthia Perkins, Diane Paterson and Alastair Drew. Thanks to Alison Hinde who monitored the bank account for Race Entry Payments and Dinners. Not an easy task! Tessa Lawrance with the handing out of Cat Suits their returns and also washing them.
Thanks also to the wonderful DHO members who were gatekeepers for both days as well as friends from the village. Thanks particularly to Stephen Davies for being head gatekeeper and keeping everyone happy with drinks/snacks and sun tan cream!
Last, but far from least, Colin Wilmott at SkiSet who is always there with good advice, help and support.
Meanwhile, here are a few photos to wet your appetite for the forthcoming Journal!
