Here in Wengen we have been enjoying some great skiing and excellent company. The weather has been generally good, although during the last two weeks we have had storm days that have disrupted the lift operations and caused the cancellation of a race. On the plus side both storms deposited around 40cm of snow.
We have had around 6 -12 members skiing with us most days, including trips to Murren, race practice on the Mannlichen and lovely side piste conditions.
Adrian Schwarz Challenge
A big day out for Anthony, Robert, Myles and Rebecca who all skied 20000 Vertical Meters completing their challenge finishing on the 16:15 Arven chair lift. Congratulations on completing the challenge!
On the snowy and poor visibility days we have spent some time looking at the snow and avalanche conditions. Practising our transceiver searching and digging skills.
McMillan Week
On Tuesday 1st of February we set a parallel slalom under the lights on the Figgler slope. This was a knockout format and the top 3 were as follows
1st Sacha Henty, 2nd Simon Berneche, 3rd James Wilson. The Lucy Dicker Plate was awarded to Sacha after the race. Thanks to all the helpers and marshals.
The following day was very windy and many of the lifts were closed, so we had to cancel the planned Tourist Cup GS.
The following day dawned better and we all headed over to the Tschuggen piste for the 97th McMillan Downhill.
Well done to all the participants and thanks to those that helped with the start and finish.
