The Ladies’ Ski Club is the oldest Women’s Alpine Ski Club in the world.
It was founded in Murren on 23rd January 1923 by the leading ski racers of the day,
led by Mabel Lunn, encouraged by her husband Arnold Lunn, the alpine skiing pioneer.

The Club is celebrating its 100th Birthday with a fun
1920S COSTUMED SLALOM RACE
on Monday 23 January, 10am
in front of the Ski School in Murren
The residents of Murren and visiting tourists are invited to participate in this ‘fun’ race as
competitors (ladies only) and bystanders, wearing 1920s costume, with historical ski poles
if you have them. Registration for participants is free and takes place from 9:30am in front
of the Ski School in Murren.
There will be refreshments for participants and bystanders at the finish line.
The Ladies’ Ski Club was founded 100 years ago to encourage women to participate in skiing
at the highest level. The Club continues that trailblazing spirit through its funding for British
female snow sports athletes, including Olympians; encouraging younger athletes at the
British Schoolgirls’ Races; and through participation in amateur ski racing for all women
– no matter what their race experience!
