Kids just say “It’s cool”!!
As a family ski-club the DHO organises a number of all-day fun training courses for youngsters during the British School Holidays. Our coaching programmes are designed to develop the individual to get the best out of their skiing in whatever direction they choose.
Coggins is great foundation training for kids (aged 7-13) interested in going to serious race training with DHO Racing. For those who want sociable all mountain skiing with a great local guide and coach then Eagles (aged 13-18) is the popular teenage choice.
A weekly race is included in the program to give children a chance to go down a professional race course and win cups and medals.
We train versatile, adaptable, skilful skiers with a life-long love of skiing, they have fun and make life-long friends. Several who started in Coggins have gone on to be Ski Teachers and even come back to teach with us in Wengen Ski School.
As we provide an all-day activity Parents can go off and explore the Jungfrau region in the knowledge that their kids are having the best time with a great bunch of like-minded skiers. To be a Coggin or an Eagle, the family needs to take at least one adult memberhip or family membership.
DHO “Coggins”
Coggins is unique to the DHO and to Wengen. The origins of the name are lost in the mists of time but it is thought to refer to the little “Cogs” on the railway.
Skiing
Fun, Fast skiing for 7 to 13-year olds. When kids are ready for something different from regular ski-school they should try DHO Coggins. Coggins runs all day so Parents are free to do their own thing or ski with the DHO adults.
Developing speed and control in recreational and pre-race training Kids. The emphasis is on fun and activity-based learning. Trainers are carefully selected from the Swiss Ski School though the Coggins training programme is distinct in its approach to skier development. Coaching is given on the move with constantly changing tasks and variety of terrain. We do a lot of skiing and the trainers know every jump and bump on the mountain. Coggins learn a lot whilst having the best time!!
Parents have commented not only on what their kids achieve with skiing but also on the development of personal confidence and social skills.
