Ladies Ski Club
After the Inferno weekend, we joined the Ladies Ski Club’s 100-year anniversary celebrations in Murren.
A small group of DHO Ladies and their supporters headed over to Murren on a rather chilly morning, to join members of the LSC in a slalom race on the village slope.
Members enjoyed skiing with Andrew Davies during the second week of January. Conditions remained cold and we enjoyed a couple of fresh snowfalls although no great quantity.
As always we enjoyed great views of the Eiger on many clear days.
During the first week in February, the number of DHO members increased, as it is the traditional MacMillan Week. There was a great atmosphere in the Clubroom as many members met up with old friends some they hadn’t seen since before the pandemic.
Lucy Dicker Parallel Slalom
We kicked off with the Lucy Dicker parallel slalom on the Figgeler piste in the village. We had a good turnout competing in the 2-run knock-out slalom.
Jason Walduck Winner & Emma Hinde runner up
Tourist Cup
We held the Tourist Cup on the Honegg piste, a small field took part with Lachlan Davies taking the honors.
The ski leaders this week were Colin MacAllister and Christine Robinson, members enjoyed skiing with the leaders after the races, with piste conditions remaining good due to the cold temperatures.
MacMillan Downhill Race
This season the mass start race had to take place on the Mettlen to Brandegg piste, as the Ladies’ Downhill course had thin snow conditions and had remained closed. A small field gathered to compete on the closed piste.
The competitors enjoyed the race, the winner Jason Walduck, second Martin West, and third Anthony Schwarz.
Thanks to all the helpers that are essential to help run the race, Susie, Wil and Iona, Marc, Ian and Cynthia, Christine and Colin at the start.
The day was followed by the MacMillan celebration dinner in the evening with nearly 50 members attending.
