Clare Farmer lets us know how the week has passed in Wengen

Skiing numbers with leaders have been low this week. This is possibly due to many sadly having to return home after their allowed 90 days in Switzerland, and a group being in Klosters to race in the AICC.
Those who are still in Wengen had a great time skiing together with the Ski Leaders, enjoying some glorious weather, great conversation, laughter and memorable snow conditions. The pistes have been slightly crisp in the morning, then rather slushy in the afternoon, with the ‘sweet spot’ being between 11am – 2pm. Overall the pistes remain covered and in good condition, whilst the off piste is waiting for a fresh snowfall to improve.
In the absence of any takers to race on Thursday morning the Ski leading group held an alternative competition. The members skied the Lauberhorn knowing the prize would not go to the fastest, and also being kept unaware of the winning criteria. Following some outstanding performances from the 3 members competing, individual prizes were awarded to the one in best racing position, best carving and best arms when skiing. Thankfully they all excelled in different categories so each was awarded their own Toblerone.
Another particular highlight of the week was being able to get up to Schilthorn in Murren following the reopening on Saturday. It was amazing to enjoy the views again from such a vantage point and skiing back down.
Overall a fantastic week in Wengen.
