Sunshine, trips to Murren, high excitement and; high breakfasts
The day after Murren we had a Helicopter trip
The day after our DHO Ski run to Murren some went on a trip in a helicopter. Mark drove over from Zug and John from the Ski Club of Great Britain came down with me on the 0642 train. We met the other Swiss freeriders at the Swiss Helicopter port and then we were soon whisked off to Ebnefluh . If you go on the sight seeing helicopter flight, you also get to stop at Ebnefluh and walk around on the glacier. We weren’t only sight seeing, we were going skiing.
After a glide across the glacier you ski down past a huge crevasse and stop for a coffee at the Hollandia Hut. We found this high alpine environment to be very civilised. We skied on down the long glacier and awaited our next lift. Once we were left at Petersgrat we headed off down the inside Falfer valley. 1000m of descent on perfect spring snow. It really was wonderful. If you fancy doing it one day, let us know in Wengen or contact the Swissalpine Guides in Interlaken directly. (http://www.swissalpineguides.ch/english/Heliskiing/heliskiing.html) I think if the snow and weather allows it is very likely another trip will be running next week (4th, 5th or 6th of April).
Wednesdays Trip to Murren:
Through conversation, imagination and careful planning a group of us headed over to Murren on the 08:03 train from Wengen. I know you are thinking why not the 07:03? Well that is even earlier. We went over for breakfast in the Piz Gloria, 007 restaurant. 33chf for an all you can eat breakfast buffet including prosecco! It was glorious.
The snow all over the mountain was a joy to ski. We enjoyed whizzing about on a relatively busy mountain. This week busy means there was more than us there! Thank you Murren for another classic visit.
